The Jibb Foundation is delighted to have supported the development of the The Artful: Art and Dementia online toolkit. The toolkit is a creative learning resource with 10 artmaking activities designed for people living with dementia at any stage in their lives, and their support network. The online toolkit is suitable for use in a number of settings, such as at home, in a healthcare setting, or a gallery.
The online toolkit is based on the Artful: Art and Dementia program at Sydney’s Museum of Contemporary Art Australia (MCA). Since 2015, over 200 individuals living with dementia and their care partners have been supported in this program to create new connections and life-enriching experiences through contemporary art. It has has been shown that art and creative expression lead to improved self-confidence, wellbeing and social cohesion.
In 2020, the Jibb Foundation supported the free roll-out of the Toolkit and to aged-care facilities in disadvantaged areas as part of its COVID-19 response.
